Combine 1 Sand and 1 Water to make 2 Wet Sand. Each Wet Sand consumed by a Shaker becomes 1 Residue and has about a 25% chance to also produce 1 Gold. Gold falls from the bottom; Residue is pushed slowly from the top. A 25% chance is not a guarantee that every fourth unit pays out.

Make Wet Sand at the reaction boundary
The current Sand and Water pages use the same reaction: one pixel of Sand plus one pixel of Water creates two pixels of Wet Sand. The published ratio describes the material reaction; it does not establish a machine cycle time or ideal reservoir size.
Give the two Shaker outputs separate space
The Shaker reference says every Wet Sand becomes Residue, while Gold appears at a one-in-four chance. Gold drops through the bottom and Residue moves upward slowly. The current source calls the non-Gold output Residue; the earlier planning label Slag is not used as the current public answer.
- Keep the bottom clear for Gold to fall.
- Leave room above or along the top edge for Residue.
- Treat the stated 4:1 relation as a long-run approximation, never four guaranteed inputs per Gold.
Check the two documented blockage patterns
The Shaker page warns that non-Gold material dragged inside can jam it and may require manual removal. The Conveyor Belt page says a blocked leading pixel stops the pile behind it. Those two checks are source-backed; exact throughput and a universal anti-clog layout remain missing.
